Swati & Roshan's Luxury Indian Wedding in Sintra, Portugal

What an honor it was when our friends and colleagues Swati & Roshan asked us to capture their fairytale dream destination wedding in Sintra, Portugal. We’ve not only had the pleasure of working alongside Swati, founder of Pleats & Petals, but knowing both Swati & Roshan as friends, making our overseas adventure all the more meaningful.

Their dramatic love story began as a chance encounter, guided by fate that blossomed into love, and ultimately culminating in the historic town of Sintra for the celebration of Swati & Roshan’s wedding. Surrounded by colorful palaces and medieval castles within the foothills, Penha Longa Resort would host the three days of festivities brimming with more beauty and excitement than a modern Bollywood romance.

As the first of many celebrations within the resort’s historic monastery, the couple’s sangeet was an incredible evening of performances by family and friends with an exciting dance party under the stars. The couple’s wedding day began with a dramatic first look set below the resort’s “long rock” namesake overlooking the cloisters from the top of the foothill, followed by a rousing baraat, which flowed into an intimate Hindu wedding ceremony. 

Guests were then whisked to the shores of Cascais, where they were treated to a touching vow exchange, dinner and dazzling fireworks show at Forte da Cruz, a dramatic medieval castle on the Portuguese Riviera. Swati & Roshan’s reception was a touching evening of speeches, dinner and dancing by candlelight in the monastery ballroom as a fitting conclusion to an unbelievable three day celebration. 

We’re beyond thrilled to tell our friends’ incredible love story in such a dramatic and historic setting and wish them nothing but the best as they begin the next chapter of their real-life fairytale!
